We would be remiss to let this day pass us by without recognizing one of the most iconic Italian sports cars of the last 40 years, the Ferrari 308. To celebrate the occasion, we’ve collected some of our favorite pieces on the 308 from BaT and Road & Track staff alike.
BaT Auction: Euro 1989 Ferrari Testarossa
This 1989 Ferrari Testarossa is a European-specification example that was delivered new in the Middle East, and it is said to have been imported to the United States from the United Arab Emirates in 1989. It is powered by a 4.9-liter flat-12 paired with a five-speed manual transaxle and is finished in Rosso Corsa over black leather. Equipment includes a limited-slip differential, 16″ five-spoke alloy wheels, pop-up headlights, a Blaupunkt cassette stereo, air conditioning, power windows, and a gated shifter. The selling dealer acquired the car in 2021 and has since added approximately 200 of the 16k kilometers (~10k miles) shown. This Testarossa is now offered in Illinois by the selling dealer with owner’s manuals, service records, a tool kit, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Montana title.
BaT Auction: 1970 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Ram Air III 4-Speed
This 1970 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am was delivered new to Jim White Pontiac of Santa Monica, California, and was registered in California and Nevada before it was purchased by the seller in 2007. A multi-year refurbishment was subsequently performed, and it later won Best in Show and Concours Gold in the restored class at the 2022 Trans Am Nationals in Dayton, Ohio in additional to a Concours Gold trophy at the 2021 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals in Chicago with a score of 98.5%. The car is finished in Lucerne Blue with white stripes over Deluxe Sandalwood Beige vinyl upholstery, and power comes from a 400ci V8 with Ram Air III induction mated to a four-speed manual transmission and a Positraction rear end with a 3.31:1 final drive. Equipment includes power-assisted front disc brakes, variable-ratio steering, 15″ Rally II wheels, a shaker hood, a dual-outlet exhaust system, air conditioning, a center console, a Hurst shifter, and a Delco AM/FM radio with a rear speaker. BaT Auction: 14k-Mile 2012 Audi R8 V10 Coupe 6-Speed
This 2012 Audi R8 coupe is powered by a 5.2-liter FSI V10 that drives all four wheels through a six-speed manual transaxle and is finished in Brilliant Red over black leather. BaT Auction: LS3-Powered 1970 Pontiac GTO Roadster Conversion
This 1970 Pontiac GTO was acquired by the seller in 2014 and subsequently modified into a roadster as well as stripped and refinished and fitted with a replacement 6.2-liter LS3 V8, 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission, 12-bolt Moser rear axle, and late-model Camaro SS interior components. BaT Auction: One-Owner 1967 Porsche 912 Coupe 5-Speed
This 1967 Porsche 912 was originally sold at Gus Mozart Volkswagen in San Carlos, California, and it has remained registered in the state since. Powered by an air-cooled 1.6L flat-four paired with a five-speed manual transaxle, the car was reportedly refinished in beige over tan vinyl upholstery. Equipment includes fog lights, four-wheel disc brakes, chrome 15″ wheels, and an Alpine stereo linked with aftermarket speakers. Work performed in August 2022 is said to have included overhauling the carburetors, adjusting the timing and valves, and changing the oil. BaT Auction: 1937 Indian Junior Scout
This 1937 Indian Junior Scout is finished in blue with gold accents and is powered by a 30.50ci side-valve V-twin mated to a three-speed hand-shifted transmission. Equipment includes a girder fork, a horn, a brown leather solo saddle, 18″ wire-spoke wheels, Coker Classic clincher tires, a rear-wheel stand, and a two-into-one exhaust system with a fishtail muffler. The bike was refurbished under previous ownership and was acquired by the seller in 2022. This Model 537 Junior Scout is now offered in Ontario, Canada, with a bill of sale.
BaT Auction: 2022 Porsche 911 Targa 4S 7-Speed
This 2022 Porsche 911 Targa 4S is finished in Dolomite Silver Metallic over black leather and is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0L flat-six mated to a seven-speed manual transaxle and an all-wheel drive system. Additional equipment includes the Premium and Sport Chrono packages along with a red power-operated targa top, staggered-diameter Carrera S wheels, a sport exhaust system, a front-axle lift system, Power Steering Plus, Adaptive Sport Seats Plus, and matte carbon-fiber interior trim. BaT Auction: 6k-Mile 1985 Renault Fuego at No Reserve
This 1985 Renault Fuego is finished in metallic beige over red upholstery and powered by a 2.2-liter inline-four paired with a three-speed automatic transaxle. Equipment includes 14” wheels, a wraparound glass hatch, a rear wiper, air conditioning, cruise control, and an AM/FM stereo. The car is said to have remained in storage from the late 1980s until the seller’s acquisition in 2022, and its odometer now shows 5,800 miles. This 2002 BMW Z8 was first delivered to Braman Motorcars in West Palm Beach, Florida, and it was purchased by the seller in December 2021 following ownership history in that state as well as New Jersey, Arizona, Indiana, and Texas. It is powered by a 4.9-liter V8 paired with a six-speed manual transmission, and it is finished in Titanium Silver Metallic over black and Sport Red soft leather. Equipment includes a color-matched removable hardtop, a black soft top, 18” split-spoke wheels, xenon headlights, heated power-adjustable sport seats, a six-disc CD changer, a Harman Kardon sound system, navigation, and air conditioning. This 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 linked with a 10-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and electronic locking front and rear differentials. The truck is finished in Iconic Silver Metallic over Onyx leather and features the Lux Package, 17″ black alloy wheels, a gray removable hardtop, a receiver hitch, keyless entry, LED headlights, parking sensors, SYNC 4 infotainment, and a Terrain Management system with G.O.A.T. modes. BaT Auction: 5.0L-Powered 1974 Ford Bronco
This 1974 Ford Bronco was acquired by the seller in 2006, and subsequent work consisted of stripping and refinishing the body and chassis, installing a replacement 5.0-liter V8, 4R70W four-speed automatic transmission, Dana 44 front axle, and Ford 9″ rear axle. The truck is finished in blue and white over gray and black cloth upholstery and features a removable hardtop, a roll cage, power steering, a Hydroboost brake system, front disc brakes, a 3.5″ lift kit, manually locking front hubs, GT40-style intake manifold and cylinder heads, ceramic-coated headers, Mastercraft reclining front bucket seats, and Tom Wood’s driveshafts. This U15 Bronco is offered with a clean New Mexico title in the seller’s name.
BaT Auction: 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SL
This 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SL was acquired by the owner in the US in 2019 and reportedly sent to Paraguay, where it was disassembled and refurbished before being returned to the US in 2022. Refurbishment work is reported to have included a repaint in gold, a rebuild of the 2.8-liter inline-six, and overhauls of the suspension and braking systems. The car is equipped with a four-speed automatic transmission, a body-color hardtop, a black soft top, chrome bumpers with overriders, and steel 14″ wheels along with tan leather upholstery, a Becker Europa stereo, and a Frigiking air conditioning system. This W113 SL is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with refurbishment records, a tool kit, data cards, and a clean Florida title in the name of the owner’s company.
